Recently, I decided to relive the pleasure of watching Huan Zhu Ge Ge I in its entirity all over again. I suddenly realized, after the first hour or so of watching, that this whole story of Huan Zhu Ge Ge would never have happened if not for one person. That's right. It took just one person to release the chain of events that developed into one great story. To understand where I'm coming from, think way back to the beginning of the Huan Zhu series. We all know that if Xiao Yan Zi had successfully climbed over the mountain, entered the royal hunting grounds, met the emperor, delivered the fan and painting, and explained to him that he had a daughter named Zi Wei, then the story would have ended there. But as fate would have it, she never delivered her message. Why? Because she was shot mistakenly by Wu Ah Ge's arrow before she could talk. And the reason Wu Ah Ge missed the deer and shot her instead was because by the time he aimed, it was already a tad too late. He was late because that deer wasn't his to shoot in the first place. That deer was Ar Kang's. But Ar Kang never got to shoot because he was distracted. And the reason he was distracted was because someone called out "Bear!". This brings me to the most important person in the launch of Huan Zhu Ge Ge : FU AR TAI. That's right. The little brother of Ar Kang, sidekick to Wu Ah Ge, constant "third" companion in all sorts of ups and downs. But you see, without Ar Tai's call of "Bear!", Ar Kang wouldn't have strayed from attention. Wu Ah Ge would therefore never have had the chance to shoot. And Xiao Yan Zi would never have been hurt. Without Fu Ar Tai, none of what happened afterwards would have happened. Huan Zhu Ge Ge might as well never existed. Sadly though, Ar Tai got one of the most insignificant roles in the rest of the series. He was never one of the central characters, and in the end he married the incredibly ugly Princess Sai Ya and moved to Tibet. He never even showed up in the sequel. So in all fairness to the most cheated character in the series, I suggest we salute Fu Ar Tai --- friend, brother, confidant, and the true launcher of Huan Zhu Ge Ge.
